Freshers Week can be both an exciting and nerve-wracking time, so you may be wondering what exactly you should expect from a St Aidan’s Freshers’ Week? This short introduction aims to tell you exactly that…
St Aidan’s Freshers’ Week is entirely student ran, meaning everything from helping you unload your car, to the exciting range of events we have on offer is all done by our dedicated and enthusiastic team of Freshers’ Reps (or Freps for short!), who will be on hand throughout the week to make sure you’re comfortable.
This years Senior Frep is 3rd year student Joe McGarry, and he has put lots of work this summer in to planning a fantastic start to your time at Aidan’s! We don’t want to spoil the surprise of exactly what’s to come, but make sure you remember to pack your black tie outfit, and maybe some bright white or neon coloured clothes and a non-fitted bed sheet if you can, all will be revealed soon. Don’t worry if you don’t have any of those, they’re not too important for Freshers’ Week, but I’d definitely recommend you invest in a black tie outfit, I’m sure you’ll attend countless black tie events in your
time at Durham!
Arriving at University is undoubtedly a stressful time, but our team of Freps want to try and make it as easy as possible. When you first arrive, there will be plenty of refreshments and cake on offer for you to have whilst you mingle with your other fellow freshers! It’s always worth remembering there are lots of people likely to be feeling a similar way to you, and the Freps will be on hand to offer any advice they have from their time at Aidan’s so far, and answer any questions you may have. As the Freps will certainly tell you, it won’t be long before that room full of strangers become some of your
closest friends and Aidan’s will feel like your home away from home!
I’m really excited to meet all of you at the end of September, and I hope you are too! In the meantime, make sure you join the Facebook group “St Aidan’s Freshers 2019 (Official)” to stay up to date with Freshers’ Week announcements, and to ask the Frep team any questions you may have. If you’d prefer you can email me at [email protected] with any question big or small.
Enjoy the rest of your Summer!
Alex Longman (St Aidan’s JCR President)
