Freshers Week can be both an exciting and nerve-wracking time, so you may be wondering what to expect from a St Aidan’s Freshers’ Week? This short introduction aims to tell you exactly that…
St Aidan’s Freshers’ Week is entirely student-run, meaning everything from helping you unload your car, to the exciting range of events we have on offer is all done by our dedicated and enthusiastic team of Freshers’ Reps (or Freps for short!), student volunteers who will be on hand throughout the week to make sure you’re comfortable.
This year's Senior Frep is Aidan's student Joe McGarry, and he has put lots of work this summer in to planning a fantastic start to your time at Aidan’s! We won't be able to do quite as much together as we would in a normal year, but that doesn't mean there won't be plenty to do to help you meet people, settle in, and put a smile on your face.
Arriving at University is undoubtedly a stressful time, but our team of Freps want to try and make it as easy as possible. It’s always worth remembering there are lots of people likely to be feeling a similar way to you, and the Freps will be on hand to offer any advice they have from their time at Aidan’s so far, and answer any questions you may have. Even though this year will be an unusual one, remember - everyone's in the same boat!! No matter what, as the Freps will certainly tell you, it won’t be long before that room full of strangers become some of your closest friends and Aidan’s will feel like your home away from home!
I’m really excited to meet all of you at the end of September, and I hope you are too! In the meantime, make sure you join the Facebook group “St Aidan’s Freshers 2020 (Official)” to stay up to date with Freshers’ Week announcements, and to ask the Frep team any questions you may have. If you’d prefer you can email me at [email protected] with any question big or small.
Enjoy the rest of your Summer!
Tom Chapman (St Aidan’s JCR President)
